FAQs

Is therapy right for me?

Seeking out therapy is an individual choice. There are many reasons why people come to therapy. Sometimes it is to deal with long-standing psychological issues or problems with anxiety or depression. Sometimes people tend to seek counseling when they are facing conflicts or adversity that pose a challenge to their current expectations and coping strategies. What may have been meaningful and effective at one time, may no longer serve the same purpose. Feelings of depression, anxiety, grief, significant “stress” or a general sense of unfulfillment are quite common when this occurs. Such times could be unexpected changes in one’s life such as a divorce or work transition. Working with a therapist can help provide insight, support, and new strategies to deal with all types of life challenges. Therapy is right for anyone interested in getting the most out of their life by taking responsibility, creating greater self-awareness, and working towards changing your life for good.

What are your Fees? Do you accept insurance? How does insurance work?

I am an out-of-network provider for most plans. To determine if you have mental health coverage, speak with your insurance carrier. Check your coverage carefully and find the answers to the following questions:

  • What are my mental health benefits?
  • What is the coverage amount per therapy session?
  • How many therapy sessions does my plan cover?
  • How much does my insurance pay for an out-of-network provider?
  • Is approval required from my primary care physician?
  • Do I need to obtain prior authorization before I begin?

Very often the out-of-network benefit results in the same financial outlay as the in-network co-pay. I will provide you with a monthly invoice to submit to your insurance carrier.

Fees and Payment

Rates are $225 per 60-minute session for Individuals and $275 per hour for couples. Payment is due at the time of service. Credit Cards and HSA cards ( I currently use a HIPPA-compliant credit card processing company).

Cancellation Policy

Sessions are reserved time and therefore I require a 48-hour cancellation notice. If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment or have not given 48 hours notice, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.

Is therapy Confidential?

Your privacy is of the utmost importance and to this end, what we speak about will be held confidential. You are free to tell whomever you wish of our work together. There may be times when you may want me to speak with others on your behalf. In these circumstances, I will need your permission either verbally or in writing. I may discuss your therapy without full identification for educational and supervisory purposes. There are a few exceptions to confidentiality that are important to review.
  • If I learn of any alleged child/elder abuse or neglect, I am required by law, as a mental health professional, to report this to the State Child Abuse Registry or State Adult Protective Services.
  • If in my judgment you are deemed to be dangerous to yourself or others, I may need to break confidentiality in order to assure your safety or the safety of others.
  • If I am court-ordered to disclose your therapy.
